# Loans

> Request an interest-free loan and repay it through the alliance bank

The alliance gives interest-free loans to members. You request an amount and a term. Bankers review the request. You repay in weekly payments.

You can hold one loan at a time.

## Request a loan

1. Run `/loan request`.
2. Set `amount` to the dollar amount you need.
3. Set `reason` to explain what the loan is for.
4. Set `desired_weeks` to your repayment term, from 1 to 52 weeks.

The bot shows you a private preview first. The preview includes sample payment plans and the weekly payment for each. It also shows what percent of your estimated weekly revenue each payment takes. Check that your term is realistic. Then click **Confirm & Submit** within 60 seconds.

## What happens next

1. Bankers review your request and approve or deny it.
2. On approval, a banker sets your repayment term.
3. The bot sends you a DM titled **Loan Offer**. It shows the amount, the weekly payment, and the schedule.
4. Click **Accept** or **Decline** in the DM.
5. On accept, the bot creates a private loan channel for you and the bankers. The bot sends the funds to your nation.

## Repay

Deposit into the alliance bank in game. Type `repay` in the deposit note. Without the note, the payment counts as a normal deposit. A banker records each payment in your loan channel.

## Check your status

Run `/loan status`. The bot shows the amount, the amount repaid, the remainder, the weekly payment, and the next payment date. Bankers can check any member with the `user` option.

## Banker tools

* `/loan record-payment user:@member amount:<dollars>` records a payment against the member's loan.
* `/loan forgive user:@member` closes the member's loan.
